Actually, back in the day, these were called racer-backs or T-backs.
Wifebeaters were tshirts with the sleeves cut out. I am not sure how or when that changed, but the first time someone called one of these a wifebeater I told him he needed to learn his fashion!

Just to explain this ad for the hard of understanding "Let me stand out and still be under cover". The woman is naked but has adopted a pose that hides her "bits". So what she needs is clothes made of a stretchy fabric that will show off her body while keeping her decent.
