The U.S. Senate will consider ratification of the international treaty on the rights of women, known as CEDAW. The first female Supreme Court Justice, Sandra Day O’Connor, supports the ratification. She wrote, “CEDAW currently has 186 countries which have ratified, including our closest allies. The United States is the only country to have signed, but not ratified, the Convention. Our non-ratification leaves us in the company of the few remaining non-party countries, including Iran and the Sudan.” Contact your senator and ask them to ratify CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women).
